Women of all ages are invited to come gather on the last Sunday of every month to celebrate the pregnant mamas of our local village here in Albuquerque or be held & supported as pregnant mama yourself!
What is a Village Prenatal?
A Village Prenatal is a gathering of sisters & most importantly pregnant mamas. It’s an opportunity for women to gather together with the intention of loving on our pregnant sisters, bearing witness to the sacred season of their pregnancy, as they do the most important work of growing & nourishing new life in their wombs.
It is honor to be carrying on this lineage of Village Prenatals as taught by elder midwife Sister Morningstar. Who is invited to a Village Prenatal?
First & foremost we want our pregnant women present so we can hold & love on them! However it is equally as important to have other women who are not currently pregnant present to hold the space.
All women are welcome & encouraged to join across the continuum of Womanhood,
Maiden, Mother, or Crone.
What do we do at a Village Prenatal?
Each month may vary a little but we always come together in love & connection, feed the mamas & break bread together as sisters, sit in circle, sing songs, palpate pregnant bellies, connect to our sacred womb space in meditation, & most importantly bear witness to both the fears & prayers each pregnant mama holds for her pregnancy & birth experience.
The sacred space we co-create together in circle is available for any of our pregnant sisters to visualize & speak out loud her dream birth with this vision held by all the rest of the women as she approaches her birthing time. The circle is also a sacred container for her to give voice to any fears, to be honored & then transmuted as she has the opportunity to allow the fear to be acknowledged & moved through.
The time container is set for 4 hours because as we know, when women gather, there is much joy & connection & laughter to be shared. As a general outline of the flow of time we typically spend the first hour eating & casually connecting, then open & close our circle within the following 3 hours, always allowing ample time for birth visions & fears to be witnessed & heard.
What can I bring?
The gatherings are always potluck style with an ask of our non-pregnant sisters to make something yummy to nourish our pregnant mamas & each other. All range of food offerings are welcome & most appreciated as this is a FREE CommUnity event in which we all contribute & take care of one another.
Any offerings anyone would like to bring to our circle whether in the form of song, ritual, dance or anything of the sort are more than welcome keeping with the spirit of truly co-creating this nourishing container for our pregnant women.
